Client, C. E. John Company has been working on a massive shopping complex redevelopment and expansion. Within this multi-phase development have been plans to paint six original murals. The forth of six murals planned for Cedar Hills Crossing in Beaverton was just approved! Although the mural will not be painted until the building facade is complete, I wanted to share the design with you.

This design is a historic interpretation honoring Bernard Airport (1928-1969) and the couple whom owned and operated Oregon’s largest non-commercial airport, Vivian and Charles Bernard. Bernard Airport was the original property’s development, now it is the Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center. As fun little tidbits, the design includes “Bernard Airport” atop a 1930’s era airplane hangar, and “Est. 1928” on the airplane recognizing the year the airport was established. Both Vivian and Charles are referenced in the image too. “Vivian B.” is the airplane’s namesake, and “Charles” is on the pilots’ chest patch.
