Newport, Oregon has been a family vacation destination since 2015. Years ago my mom took a photo of Newport’s iconic truss bridge. As I prepared for a mural project in 2018, I needed images of Oregon bridges and remembered the foggy-day photo she took. Upon asking her to send me a copy, she mentioned that she had always envisioned it in a painting. (Well, who better to ask than a daughter who is a painter!)

Like so many heart-filled commissions I’ve worked on, this project was especially tender as it is a painting for my own mom.
